MTN Introduces Broadband

Kampala, Uganda: MTN customers can now experience high speed internet connection enabling them to browse the internet, send and receive lots of email, download data and use streaming services in an efficient, fast and cost effective way.
This was announced at the official launch of MTN Broadband a new product from MTN. MTN Broadband is a Fixed Wireless high speed internet service and is available to all customers.

According to Erik van Veen, MTN Chief Commercial Officer, “There is a substantial unmet need for very high-speed internet access. WiMAX is an advanced solution, designed to meet this need, and to do so in a low-cost, flexible way.”

He added, “So many customers have a very unpleasant experience with their internet. It’s too slow, too expensive or too unreliable. With MTN Broadband, customers get high speed at affordable rates and only pay for what you use.”

MTN Broadband is available in 3 different bundles to ensure that different customer needs are catered for. Light users can obtain the 200Mb bundle at UGX 115,000 medium users can acquire the 500Mb bundle at UGX 220,000 while heavy users can get the 1GB bundle at only UGX 395,000. There is also a one off installation charge of up to UGX 295,000.

Addressing the press, Phinda Ncala, Chief Information Technology Officer, said, “For some time now MTN has been investing in the development and deployment of WiMAX to enable us deliver MTN Broadband. We believe that MTN Broadband will help transform internet usage in Uganda. Enhanced speeds for data, as well as cost efficiencies for customers are just some of the benefits that are fuelling excitement and accelerated adoption of WiMAX. WiMAX no longer is just a promise, a potential. Now it's here, it's real."

MTN Broadband can be purchased at any of the MTN Service centres. Customers who opt for the post-paid option can acquire the service from the Sales Department at the Head Office at MTN Towers.

Using state of the art technology MTN Broadband customers will enjoy a hassle free internet experience as a result of high speed, reliable connection and flexible tariff options.
