Kampala, Uganda: The legendary British band UB40 will perform live in Kampala on February 23 2008 at Lugogo Cricket Oval. The historical concert sponsored by telecom giant MTN, will be the biggest music event ever held in Uganda and most likely in East Africa.
UB40 is one of the biggest bands in the world with album sales in excess of 70 million worldwide.
The legendary all male band shook the music industry and revolutionized reggae music with famous multi-platinum selling hits like “Red Red Wine”, “I Got U Babe”, “Kingston Town”, and “Can’t Help Falling in Love.” UB40 is without doubt the biggest pop and reggae band in the world, matched in terms of popularity and influence only by Bob Marley & the Wailers.

In 2006, the quintet has won several international accolades most notably the Ivor Novello Award for International achievement and their 2006 nomination for best Reggae Album at the 49th
Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles. Their latest hit ‘Reasons’ was released off their 2005 album Who you fighting for? - and ranked 75 on the UK singles chart.
UB40 so far boast of combined single and album sales in excess of 70 million dollars with a staggering 51 hit singles. Among various prestigious artistes, the 8 boyhood friends have performed with industry top dogs such as Beanie Man, Chrissie Hynde and Coolio.
