MTN & FUFA Launch Cranes 2010 World Cup Campaign

Release date:6/5/2008

Kampala, Uganda: Telecoms giant MTN & FUFA launched the Uganda Cranes 2010 World Cup campaign with a call to the public to rally behind the national team. With the first World Cup qualifying game against Niger on Saturday 31st May soon approaching, MTN & FUFA invited Ugandans to rally behind the national team on the road to the finals in South Africa.

At a luncheon held at Namboole, MTN and FUFA expressed their gratitude to Ugandans for the overwhelming support to the Cranes during the MTN African Cup of Nation’s campaign earlier this year.

“As MTN, we know the Cranes can go to the finals and we believe that it is our duty to support them on the road to South Africa. The team that we saw winning matches against Nigeria’s Super Eagles with its world famous players is now in an even better shape thanks to FUFA and Coach Csaba. We invite Ugandans to fill up Namboole Stadium on 31st May and in subsequent games” said MTN’s Head of Marketing, Isaac Nsereko.

“As a company with South African roots and Title sponsors of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, we look forward to welcoming the Cranes to our other home country” Isaac concluded.

FUFA President Lawrence Mulindwa echoed the same message. “The previous campaign provided us with some great lessons and we are certainly wiser and have a world class team thanks to Csaba and MTN. Going to South Africa has been and remains my administration’s and the Coach’s number one priority .The 2010 FIFA World Cup is special to the Cranes and FUFA because it is taking place in Africa courtesy of MTN who is also our sponsor. We are going all the way to the finals and need your support on and off the pitch.”
