Kampala, Uganda: MTN, the leading telecommunications company in Uganda has announced a reduction in their prices less than two months since its last price cut in December 2007. The telecommunications giant has again dropped its prices a further 10% lower from their current prices on the market.
Customers can now make calls on the MTN PayGo per Second tariff plan for UGX 7 per second and will now be calling other networks for a flat fee of UGX 320 per minute under the MTN Flat Rate tariff plan.
Speaking from MTN Towers, Chief Commercial Officer Erik van Veen said, “Further to our promise towards the end of last year, we’re thrilled to be able to give our customers a lot more value for their money. When we lowered our prices nearing the festive season last year, we were confident that customers would continue to benefit from the successful completion of the upgrade of our network.”
Emphasizing the existence of MTN in Uganda over the last ten years, van Veen pointed out the importance of keeping the promise the company made to it’s customers at the inception of their operations.
“We have continued to focus on ensuring that our customer’s extract maximum value from being on the MTN network. We understand that 7 out of every 10 calls are made to an MTN number and we have thus ensured that our tariffs for calls on the MTN network provide our customers with maximum cost savings” van Veen explained.
