Kampala, Uganda: MTN promises more tickets as five win all expenses paid trips to watch the World Cup in South Africa.
As the countdown to the FIFA 2010 World Cup in South Africa begins in earnest, MTN Uganda the official sponsors of the global football extravaganza will send five people on an all expenses paid trip to experience the event first hand. The five, Edward Kadugala from Mbarara, Joseph Ito from Arua, Adam Ntanda and Grace Mwanje from Kampala and John Mark Mwanika from Soroti were the lucky winners among millions of Ugandans who participated in a successful SMS based MTN campaign dubbed “We Can’t Wait” that has been running for the last 6 months.
Speaking during the close of the campaign, MTN Uganda’s Chief Marketing Officer, Isaac Nsereko said that the campaign had been a big success with participants coming from all over the country. “We’re very pleased with the huge response to the Fever 2010 promotion which shows great anticipation and excitement as Ugandans get ready to watch and experience the global soccer masterpiece for the first time on African soil” he said.
To officially mark the end of this first phase of the ticket giveaways, there will be a grand draw this Saturday 14th November 2009 that will see the winner walking away with the grand prize of an all-expenses-paid trip to watch the World Cup and a VISA card with $10,000 credit.
Following the overwhelming success of the first phase MTN Uganda intends to embark on the second phase which promises to be even bigger and better with thousands of exciting prizes and even more tickets to be won.
Nsereko added, “We believe more Ugandans should get a chance to win tickets because this is the first time that many of us have a real chance of ever watching the World Cup live. Those who haven’t yet won tickets will have a another chance to win thousands of other prizes that will make it comfortable to watch the World Cup at home and with friends and family.”
