Kampala, Uganda: Charles Mugabo, a Kampala businessman, is the ninth winner of a furnished apartment in the ongoing MTN Goal of Goals promotion which has so far seen eight lucky winners rewarded with houses and many others win Flat screen TV sets, Home Theatres and Fridges in readiness for the 2010 FIFA World Cup which kicks off on June 11th in South Africa.
Mugabo, a 34 year old trader at Nabugabo dealing in general merchandise and resident of Mengo, a Kampala suburb was ecstatic when he received the keys to his apartment presented by MTN General Manager Business Risk Management, Richard Mutesasira.
“Thank you MTN,” Mugabo said repeatedly. “This is unbelievable. I have received a lot of calls from people far and wide, some I know and some I don’t know. When the first call came in I was at a wedding so I couldn’t hear clearly what I was being told,” added Mugabo. “But from that time on, I got numerous calls from various people congratulating me.”
Mr. Mutesasira congratulated Mugabo and all the other eight winners for their participation in the promotion and urged MTN customers to continue using at least UGX 2,000 because there are still three more houses on offer and much more like TVs, home theatres and fridges to be won in the next three weeks.
“We are approaching the penultimate stage of the promotion and it could just be your lucky day”. He added that MTN would continue to keep its promise of bringing to Ugandans the unique World Cup experience which is indeed already transforming many lives.
The MTN Goal of Goals promotion rewards those who use a minimum of UGX 2,000 MTN airtime a week. A live draw is carried out every Sunday on NTV and UBC at 7.30pm. Apart from the furnished apartments, there are also Sony 32” Plasma Screen TV sets, Sony DVD Home Theatre Systems and LG refrigerators, all selected to enhance the experience of the winners during the coming World Cup season.
The results of the final winners are verified and certified by renowned accounting and auditing firm, Ernst & Young.
