MTN Goal of Goals 2nd WINNER over the moon

Release date:3/9/2010

Kampala, Uganda: The second winner in the ongoing MTN Goal of Goals promotion has received the keys to his fully furnished apartment. Godfrey Matege from Kamuli emerged the lucky winner following a draw that was carried out and announced on NTV and UBC television stations on Sunday.

Speaking during the hand over of the house keys to Mr. Matege, MTN Chief Marketing Officer, Isaac Nsereko said the World Cup was more than a sporting event but rather a social gala, to which end he revealed that while the promotion may be tagged to a sporting event, all Ugandans should take part.

“As the official global sponsor of the 2010 World Cup we want to ensure that the spirit of the first World Cup on the African continent is felt in Uganda, not only among the sports enthusiasts but by every one of our customers,” Mr. Nsereko stated. “These apartments will surely be a monument that will always be a great reminder about the first World Cup in Africa. And to the winners and their families, what a World Cup memory they will have!”

The house winner was ecstatic. “I have been over the moon from the time I realized it was not a hoax. I went all over my place telling people about it. This has been the biggest life changing event of my life and I will surely enjoy the World Cup.”

The first house was won by Amon Turyasingura, a 23 year old resident of Nateete, a Kampala suburb. The house was won in a lucky draw of the over 2 million MTN customers currently participating in the promotion. The results of the final winners are verified and certified by renowned accounting and auditing firm, Ernst & Young.

Other lucky winners included Peter Were and Mutumba James who won a Sony Bravia 32 " Plasma TV and a Sony DVD Home Theatre system respectively while Mairiam Kamusime and Sekandi Yasin were lucky winners of LG refrigerators each.

The draw is announced live every Sunday on NTV and UBC TV at 7.30pm and to check one’s entries, one should dial *156*5#. Last year, MTN Uganda rewarded six winners with all expenses paid trips to South Africa and tickets to watch the World Cup in June. One lucky customer also received a VISA card with $10,000 credit.
