Kampala, Uganda: MTN Uganda today extended the coverage of the highly popular MTN Zone to cover all other local network calls. MTN Zone Extended announced today, offers tariff discounts of up to 99% on calls.
MTN Zone Extended offers customers increased savings on phone call costs per second depending on their location and time of call.
“We have introduced a cross-network tariff discount in Uganda. This gives close to 6 million subscribers the ability to call other local networks at heavily discounted rates, while calling on MTN itself will be even cheaper at 99%,” said Isaac Nsereko, MTN’s Chief Marketing Officer.
Nsereko said calls to other networks from MTN constitute an estimated 30% of the average usage of the telecommunications firm’s close to 6 million subscribers.
“The discount will vary according to the amount of traffic in particular areas at different times. The more capacity available at any one time in a given area, the greater the discount users in that area will receive - even up to 99%,” Nsereko added.
MTN Zone Extended is an enhancement of MTN Zone, which was introduced in 2008 and has been adapted by over 75% of the 6 million MTN subscribers.
“Following the success of MTN Zone for MTN subscribers, we knew our subscribers would be even more thrilled to have the product presented to them for use across all networks,” Nsereko said.
