Partnership of the year, 2010: Coca-Cola & MTN Uganda

Kampala, Uganda: Coca-Cola and MTN Uganda today unveiled a ground breaking partnership to bring the 2010 FIFA World Cup Finals live into a stadium in Uganda.
 
In an exclusive partnership between the two brands, both Official Sponsors of the FIFA World Cup will host the World Cup Opening Match, Quarter Finals and Final Match all at Nakivubo Stadium, to enable Ugandans to get a close-up feel of the Africa’s first World Cup tournament.
 
Announcing the partnership offering Coca Cola Uganda Brand Manager, Margaret Kigozi and MTN Uganda Events & Promotions Manager, Aggrey Kagonyera; said the World Cup Live in Nakivubo package was designed to be free to the public.
 
“The worldwide passion for soccer is unrivalled and gives our business in Uganda the best platform to connect with fans,” Margaret Kigozi said.
 
“We are proud to be bringing the World Cup to Ugandans, not just on their televisions, but right into a stadium. This is another ‘first’ being brought to you by both MTN and Coca Cola,” Kagonyera said.
 
Gate fees at the stadium for the games will be only UGX2,000 (two thousand shillings only), which will entitle a ticket holder to one 500ml Coca Cola bottle, and UGX1,000 (one thousand shillings) MTN airtime.
 
Coca Cola is one of the FIFA World Cup’s longest-standing corporate partners, while MTN, Africa’s largest telecommunications network, is a global sponsor of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South AfricaTM.
