The First-Ever Customer Service Bus rolled out onto Uganda’s roads today to reach MTN Uganda’s 7 million customers wherever they may be.
At a colourful ceremony in Lugazi, Eastern Uganda, MTN Senior Marketing Manager Flavia Nabaasa said the telecommunication company had taken its need to fulfill customer queries, and adapted it to the Ugandan situation in order to provide a “meaningful solution”.
“The concept of providing customer service on the go, everywhere you go, is aimed at increasing our reach into remote areas with our products and services, and solutions to any problem that our subscribers might face,” Nabaasa said.
The MTN Mobile Shop joins seven existing fully functional Centres in Kampala and other urban Centres. The most recently-opened Service Centre, at Forest Mall Lugogo in Kampala, was opened by Uganda Investment Authority Executive Director Dr. Maggie Kigozi in May 2011.
Nabaasa said the MTN Mobile Shop would provide the same services as the high-tech Service Centres in Kampala, giving customers in upcountry areas the same quality of service and attention as those in urban Centres.
“By bringing these services closer to all our subscribers, we are emphasizing the importance we place in each subscriber who joins MTN. This year alone, more than 500,000 people have so far joined MTN. We are investing in innovative Customer Service to keep all 7 million MTN subscribers satisfied with our products and services,” she said.
She said the MTN Mobile Shop will be constantly on the move around the country to handle Customer queries and collect feedback to be acted upon.
The MTN Mobile Shop is fully equipped with internet and data service management tools.
“The bus is a modern-edge gadget that has been kitted with Laptops to enable the customers to experience our 3G+ when in 3G coverage areas and Edge in non-coverage areas. We have 5 work stations within the bus and we will also be setting up stations where the bus parks so that we can handle more people,” Nabaasa said.
The bus will also serve as a point of sale for MTN products and services, Mobile Money merchant point, products and services education and service demonstration, payment point for monthly utility bills, SIM registration and SIM replacements amongst others.
