Just like millions of people around the world, Ugandans are football fanatics, and so is MTN. Through sharing the excitement, joy, anxiety and heartbreaks associated with the great sport of football, MTN connects with Ugandans and the world through this wonderful game. MTN is also the official sponsor of the 2010 Fifa World Cup to be held in South Africa. Go Uganda! Go Africa!

Our love of the game runs deep so much so that we not only cheer our teams on from the sidelines, we are committed to getting on the field and utilizing resources at our disposal to see that football develops in Uganda in terms of player skill, fan participation, as well as adequate financial, clothing and equipment availability. Uganda has seen gradual performance improvement as evidenced by the Uganda Cranes defeat of African Football Giants, Nigeria’s Super Eagles, during the Ghana 2008 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
 
MTN also sponsors the local domestic competition, the Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) Championships that hosts over 18 local clubs.

Among children, MTN sponsors the Kampala Kids’ League that trains children between the ages of 3 to 14 in the sport. The Kampala Kids League senior team has gone on to win various accolades on the international scene.
