SIM Swap


Reasons for a SIM swap:

•    SIM card has been stolen
•    SIM card is lost
•    Wrong PUK number entry locking phone and the SIM card is rejected
•    Mishandling of the SIM card
•    Requiring upgrade of SIM card (16k or 32k card to a 64k)

Getting a SIM swap:
Visit any MTN Service Centre, Connect Store or Dealer Outlet to get a SIM swap.
To successfully activate your SIM card, you will have to provide some specific detail to verify ownership, as any of the following:

FOR PayAsYouGo
•    Your MTN Mobile Number

•    Valid Identification

•    Original Starter Pack

•    Original Receipt

•    A Referenced Police Letter



FOR Corporate Top Up

•    Your MTN Mobile Number

•    Valid Identification

•    Official Company Letter request for swap with employees’ details

FOR Pay Monthly
•    Your MTN Mobile Number

•    Valid Identification

•    Official Company Letter request for swap with employees’ details (Corporate Customers)

•    Letter stating request for swap (Individual Customers)

In the event of not being able provide any of the above details you will be asked some verification questions; as the follows:
•    Your MTN Mobile Number

•    Your First & Last Names

•    The Date and Amount on Last Recharge

•    Your Mobile Package

•    3 most Frequently Called Numbers

•    Your Hometown

Once your provided information is confirmed, you will then be handed a new SIM card and a successful activation will be completed after a period of no more than 1 hour, with an SMS notification sent to you.
