Segmentation & Propensity Model Analyst

Main Purpose of the Job

Planning, building, maintaining, commercializing and implementing predictive and segmentation models spanning prepaid, and enterprise bases.


Prime responsibilities of the positions:



  • Enable the customer base management strategy and campaign roadmap by developing predictive models and segmentation which supports the overall CVM strategy and P&L by increasing offer relevance and revenue uplift. Operationally manage these models to deliver commercial return and technical implementation to allow automation.


  • Lead in the development, validation and implementation of propensity models and segmentations to be used across multiple areas of the business
  • Proactively assist in strategy design to maximize benefits achieved from implementing the predictive models
  • Lead in the development, documentation, validation, enhancement, and ongoing tracking of propensity models
  • Interpret and provide solutions to business and systems problems using data analysis, data mining, optimization tools, and machine learning techniques and statistics
  • Design and deploy data science and technology-based algorithmic solutions to address business opportunities
  • Partner with external data providers like Acxiom and Experian to refine existing models.
  • Business case development to determine the commercial opportunity of implementing models
  • Integration of models in campaign management and customer interfacing support systems
  • Delivery, implementation and enhancement of a CVM specific deal creation program (Next best action)
  • Managing machine learning predictive models and their outcomes
  • Enhancing modelling capability by evaluating technical modelling platforms
  • Big data specification and inclusion in model development


  • Create and maintain model development roadmap including the technical requirements for big data inclusion in the analytical environment
  • Automation of developed models
  • Integration of models in key campaign management systems
  • Enhancing modelling capability by evaluating technical modelling platforms


The applicant must possess the following;


  • Bachelor's degree preferably in mathematics, Economics, Information Technology, Statistics, Business computing actuarial science
  • At least 3 years' experience in business analysis and financial modeling in the marketing environment
  • Demonstrated leadership in predictive modelling within a large organization
  • Experience in predictive model development, maintenance, commercialization and automation.
  • Experience in managing dynamic learning engine solutions (preferred)
  • Experience with technical and commercial implementation of predictive models
  • Proficient understanding and experience with SQL and relational databases
  • Highly proficient in all MS Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and database experience
  • Demonstrated ability to create structure within an unstructured environment
  • Disciplined detail-oriented style combined with ability to simultaneously work at a strategic level

  • Advanced statistical software skills (SAS, SPAD, Python, etc.)
  • Advanced use of Excel (Excel, VBA for Excel, etc.)
  • Results Achiever - Produces sustainable commercial results through ethical practices
  • Operationally Astute - Sets priorities, plans, organizes and co-ordinates work to deliver the highest commercial returns   
  • Ability to Translate commercial objectives to technical terms for ensuring underlying system readiness
  • Strong Strategic and Analytical Thinking 
  • Data base Knowledge especially SQL
  • Business and strategic acumen
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation skill and conflict management skill
