Francis Gimara

Francis Gimara is a distinguished legal practitioner and governance expert with extensive experience in regional integration law, corporate governance, and alternative dispute resolution. As Head of ALP East Africa, he leads a premier law firm specializing in commercial and public law. He previously served as President of the Uganda Law Society (2016–2017) and currently chairs the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Appeals Tribunal in Uganda.
He holds a Master of Laws (LL.M) from the University of Cambridge, a Master of Dispute Resolution (MDR) from Pepperdine University, a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration from Edinburgh Business School, and a Bachelor of Laws (LL. B) from Makerere University. He is a Senior Counsel (SC) and a member of the Uganda Law Society, East African Law Society, International Bar Association, and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
He is passionate advocate for legal excellence, institutional integrity, and leadership development, he actively mentors young professionals and champions the rule of law. His contributions to the legal profession and governance reforms continue to shape Uganda’s legal landscape.
