Your Account can be accessed using Your Personal Identification Number (PIN) and a One Time Password (for MTN Mobile Money Application Users).
Remember to keep your PIN secret since its required to complete every transaction and change it regularly.
How to deposit money into your account: You can Cash-in through a Mobile money Agent or transfer from your bank account.
How to withdraw money from your account: You can Cash out through a Mobile Money Agent or a Bank Automated Teller Machine.
Inactivity/dormancy: After 9 Months of inactivity, an account will be considered Dormant. You will need to transact or visit our Service Centers to reactivate it. After 15 months of inactivity, the account will be closed, and account balances transferred to Bank of Uganda.
Deposit protection: All customer deposits are protected, and the balances of the customer accounts shall not be attached, assigned, or transferred for the purposes of satisfying any claim.
Account closure: Your Account may be suspended, restricted, or terminated without informing you and without any liability if your PIN is used in an un-authorized, unlawful, improper, or fraudulent manner or for criminal activities.

clinicPesa is a healthcare financing solution targeting the uninsured individuals through its digital mobile healthcare micro loans, savings, payments and value creation platform where members set aside dedicated funds used to offset their medical bills and purchase drugs/medicine in time of need at your partner facility.
clinicPesa MaMa’s is a behaviorally driven mobile money maternal health savings account platform that empowers expectant women and couples to access timely savings towards maternity care, birth preparedness kits, up keep, as well as afford transportation to the healthcare center, hence enabling them afford safe child delivery.
- The service is STRICTLY for healthcare usage.
- A user can save any amount from as low as UGX 500 cumulatively over time.
- A user can share their clinicPesa with a loved one, friend or relative.
- A user can set AutoSave (set standing order) to save on their behalf.
- A user earns Interest of up-to 5% annually on their savings.
- A user will take at-least 12 months to qualify to withdraw savings plus interest accumulated fees of charge. Between 6 to 11 months user qualifies to withdraw funds at transaction fees equivalent to the interest earned over time.
- A user can take a loan between UGX 3,000 up to UGX 3,000,000. “Awaiting confirmation.”
- The user does not incur recurring interest on medical loan but a penalty that is effected for late payment. “Awaiting confirmation.”

Individual users
Individuals who are 18 years old and above, owning a registered MTN sim card and are registered on MTN mobile money.
Expectant women (ages 15-49), women of reproductive age (15-49) who are planning to become pregnant and men who have a pregnant or planning to become pregnant partner (ages 15-49).
Healthcare Facilities
clinicPesa reserves the right to verify with MTN Uganda the authenticity and status of your MTN Number.
Formal and informal healthcare facilities that include hospitals, medical centers, clinics, pharmacies and drug shops that are licensed and regulated by the Uganda Medical Practioners Council and National Drug Authority established under the relevant national laws under the ministry of health.
clinicPesa Individual account.
Individuals who are 18 years old and above, owning a registered MTN sim card and are registered on MTN mobile money can own a clinicPesa account.
clinicPesa Healthcare facility account.
Formal and informal healthcare facilities that include hospitals, medical centers, clinics, pharmacies and drug shops can own a clinicPesa healthcare facility account. They should be licensed and regulated by the Uganda Medical Practioners Council and National Drug Authority established under the relevant national laws under the ministry of health.
- Can I use the clinicPesa Mobile App, MTN MoMo App and Web System without mobile data?
No, usage of our mobile application and web system requires data.
But you can access our services with out mobile data through MTN USSD (*165*5#)
- How do I create a clinicPesa Individual account?
Via MTN (*165*5#)
Dial *165*5#, select clinicPesa and enter your Mobile Money PIN to accept the terms and conditions. This automatically activates your clinicPesa Account.
Web and Android Application
Download the clinicPesa App or visit web.clinicpesa.com, enter phone number.
Create a 5-digit clinicPesa PIN you would love to use. After this step, you would have accepted the clinicPesa terms and conditions.
Always keep your clinicPesa PIN and MoMo PIN a secret.
Request for an account with clinicPesa by visiting our https://register.clinicpesa.com. Fill in the online registration form and submit the relevant requirement documents as requested on the portal.
Upon verification clinicPesa will send its field team to finalize the onboarding process. Upon confirmation, your clinicPesa account will be created, and you will be issued a 6-digit merchant code and you can start transacting with clinicPesa via MTN USSD (*165*5#), our mobile android application and even via our Web system, web.clinicPesa.com.
No, you can only access clinicPesa on one device at a time. The only time you get to access the account on another device is by using your *165# or MTN MoMo App.
These are deposits made to your clinicPesa account through transferring money from your Mobile Money account. A user is able to save either daily, weekly or monthly and can even set an autosave on a daily, weekly, monthly. The savings are used to offset your medical bills for yourself or loved ones at any of our partnering healthcare facilities.
A user can save from as low as UGX 500 up to UGX 20,000,000 on their clinicPesa account.
A customer is able to save using either;

Dial *165*5#, select option 4, (clinicPesa), click on option 1(savings) and begin saving accordingly. One is able to either save for self or deposit and save for another clinicPesa user.

To qualify for the clinicPesa Loans, you must be active on MTN Mobile Money, your sim card must be at least 6 months old, you must be an MTN clinicPesa Subscriber and at-least save with clinicPesa.
This is a loan top up made to clear your medical bills at a very affordable interest rate of 7% and it is paid directly into the clinicPesa healthcare facility you would like to make payments to.
The loan is payable within 30 days. However, you can repay the loan before the due date and borrow again. If you pay the loan in less than 30 days you increase chances to grow your clinicPesa loan limit.
The minimum amount is 3,000 and maximum amount is 3,000,000. The maximum amount is subject to loan limit. The customer will receive the full loan amount requested for example if a request is placed for a loan of UGX 3,000, the customer will receive the full loan amount requested and will be required to pay back UGX 3,210.
- The loan limit is determined by utilization on the following services: MTN Voice and Data, MTN Mobile Money, customer duration on the MTN network, loan repayment on time and also savings and frequency of saving on clinicPesa.
- The customer’s average clinicPesa savings balance, paying medical bills with clinicPesa and loan performance i.e., loan uptake and repayment will also affect their loan limit.
- The first credit limit review is done 30days after enrolment and 30days thereafter.
- You can take more than one clinicPesa loan at a time as long as you are still within limit and loan repayment period 0f 30 days
- In case you pay back extra, the loan will be paid off and the extra amount will automatically be moved to your clinicPesa savings account.
- You will be given another 30days to clear the loan and this will incur interest of 7%
- If you have funds in your clinicPesa savings account and/or your Mobile Money account, the loan shall automatically be repaid from these accounts in that order.
- You lose your credit limit and may also be denied participation in future clinicPesa promotions and rewards.
- Any balance on the principal amount of the loan after attempted recovery will attract a roll-over fee of 7% and added to the outstanding principal amount of the loan balance.
- clinicPesa will mark your account as a bad debtor.
- Information related to a customer’s repayment history logged with the CRB that is accessed by other CRB lenders including Banks. Through the private credit reference bureaus licensed by the Bank of Uganda, the customer may consequently be denied loans by other CRB lenders based on the negative credit history.
- This may happen because your clinicPesa account is not credit worthy.
- In order to access the clinicPesa medical loan, maximize the utilization of the following services: MTN Voice and Data, MTN Mobile Money, savings and frequency of saving on clinicPesa
- If you have funds in your clinicPesa savings account and/or your Mobile Money account, the loan shall automatically be repaid from these accounts in that order.
- You lose your credit limit and may also be denied participation in future clinicPesa promotions and rewards.

How do I subscribe to clinicPesa MaMas? Go to clinicPesa App, select the clinicPesa MaMa’s icon. Set pregnancy duration. Set saving targets. Start saving towards your delivery. Your partner/loved ones can also contribute on your behalf by selecting Share Medical fund/ deposit for another.
How do I know the amount to save?
clinicPesa MaMa’s determines how much time you have left against the medical bill at your healthcare Facility of choice, it then distributes the funds against medical bills, Birth Kits, transport and emergency.
What happens to my savings after the pregnancy? You can unsubscribe from clinicPesa MaMas and all your funds will be reflected in your clinicPesa Savings Account.
Can I see maternity centers from this platform? Yes, clinicPesa has a list of healthcare facilities that offer maternity services
Can I opt out of clinicPesa MaMa’s while still pregnant? Yes, and all your savings will reflect under your clinicPesa account, you can always opt back in at any time.
No. A facility owner is able to save as an individual customer using his or her individual account. The facility account is only used to collect payments from the clinicPesa individual customers.
The session is 3-5 minutes long but continued interaction with the system increases the session time through auto renewal.
No, clinicPesa is a fintech company that provides savings and loans platform dedicated STRICTLY to your families’ and self’s healthcare needs.
We enable our users to get financially prepared towards their health care by providing different platforms that enable individuals to save from as low as UGX 500, we also extend instant micro mobile medical loans to our users in case they are short on savings.
You can only use clinicPesa to pay bills up to the value of funds you have saved plus the loan top-up.
You can also share funds from your clinicPesa account with a friend, loved one or relative to enable you get full/proper medical treatment and make instant payments to the healthcare facility.
Your savings will be carried forward to the next year and it will also accrue interest. clinicPesa also provides room for withdraw.
Upon notification of death, the next of kin will be required to avail a copy of the death certificate the necessary administrative documents, the clinicPesa account will be de-activated and the remaining funds will be sent to your next of kin’s clinicPesa account within 14 working days, failure to do so the funds will be moved back to the Central bank once the account reaches its dormancy state.
To eliminate this possibility, clinicPesa ensures that you confirm PIN number and facility name before making any payments.

clinicPesa is a free platform. One is able to use all the services of clinicPesa at a Zero cost.
No. our individual users are not charged while using clinicPesa to pay for their medical bills.
Yes, you can. Our individual users are able to offset another persons’ bill using his clinicPesa savings.
You can as well share your savings through the Share Medical Fund option and the funds are moved directly to the other person’s clinicPesa account.
Yes, you can. Different transactions can be made one after the another to different facilities in a given period of time
- Each of our partnering healthcare facilities have been designated with a unique merchant code. Which are displayed on stickers, danglers and other branding materials at the healthcare facility.
- Through our mobile application and web system, a customer is also able to know the healthcare facility’s merchant code through entering the facility name under the healthcare facilities feature.
- On making payments, the customer is able to enter the merchant codes displayed at the health care facility or on the application and web system to confirm whether it’s the exact facility to be paid to.
A transaction is successful immediately when the customer enters his or her Pin to confirm approval of the transaction.
All savings are collected on an escrow account in partnership with Equity bank which is regulated Bank of Uganda and daily savings are reconciled to ensure the savings are equal to the daily collected amount. clinicPesa is also regulated by Uganda Microfinance Regulatory Authority. You are strongly advised not to share your clinicPesa PIN or MTN MoMo PIN with any one, not even our staff.

- Our individual users can withdraw their savings from their clinicPesa account to their MTN Mobile Money account after a period of 12months with an annual interest rate on savings of up to 5%.
- You also qualify to withdraw within 6 to 11 months of funds deposited but at a cost equivalent to the accrued interest.
- Our partnering healthcare facilities can withdraw funds collected on their clinicPesa account to their MTN Mobile Money account or Bank Account any time at a transactional fee of 1% per withdrawal made.

MoMo Advance
MoMo Advance is a service offered to qualifying MTN Mobile Money customers to complete their
transactions when they have insufficient funds in their MTN Mobile Money wallet.
The service is available to customers that have been on MTN Mobile Money for a minimum period of 6
months and passed credit scoring which is based on their usage of MTN Mobile Money and other MTN
services.

No, you only need to opt-in once after reading and accepting the terms and conditions. The MoMo
Advance service will be available until you opt-out of the service.
Continue actively using MTN services (MoMo, Data, Voice) to improve your credit score.
No, you will be provided with the choice on whether you want to use the MoMo Advance and will need
to confirm with you the MoMo pin before the transaction is finalized.
Yes. You can choose to opt-out at any time. You will need to ensure that any outstanding balances are
settled before you opt-out. To opt-out, a customer can dial *165*5*3#, then select Option 4 to opt-out.
Only one MoMo Advance can be opened on an MTN Mobile Money number and the limit will be
determined based on your day-to-day usage on your Mobile Money Account.
Dial *165*5*3# and Select option 5 for Info. Each time you transact using MoMo Advance, you will
receive a notification with the outstanding MoMo Advance amount.
You can use it as many times as needed within the allocated MoMo Advance limit.
You are able to use a MoMo Advance for Send Money, MoMo Pay, Buy Goods and Services, Pay bills,
Airtime and Bundle Purchases.
All you need to do is transact normally on MTN Mobile Money and if you have insufficient funds, MoMo

Continue using MTN and MTN Mobile Money services frequently and clear your MoMo Advance on time
by toping up your MTN Mobile Money account.
When you default on paying your MoMo Advance, your credit score reduces and so does your available
MoMo Advance Limit.
No, you cannot withdraw funds from MoMo Advance.
Each time you access an amount on your MoMo Advance you will be charged an access fee of 2.75% of
the transaction amount. If there is an outstanding balance on the MoMo Advance you will be charged a
daily interest of 0.5%. The daily interest will be charged at the end of each day that the MoMo Advance
has an outstanding balance. No interest will be charged if the outstanding balance is settled.
Normal MTN Mobile Money transaction charges apply for the transaction.
Any funds received or deposited in your MTN Mobile Money account will automatically be used to clear
your outstanding MoMo Advance, interest and fees.
You will not have access to your MoMo Advance limit if you do not make any deposits to your MoMo
Advance for a period of 45 days.

MTN Pay Mpola Mpola
The MTN Pay Mpola Mpola is a new digital product which allows MTN customers to purchase data-capable devices bundled with data with a manageable initial payment. The balance is to be paid in multiple monthly instalments thereafter.
A section of the existing MTN customers are eligible for this service. Eligibility is guided by a customer’s age on the network, as well as their usage of MTN services over an extended period.
For the start, only one device (branded MTN Kabode) is available for purchase through the MTN Pay Mpola Mpola Service.
Yes, the devices under MTN Pay Mpola Mpola will be covered by the manufacturer’s warranty.

The device payment program is an instalment agreement in which you can get a Smartphone from MTN with a minimal initial instalment and subsequent manageable instalment payments. To that end, MTN ought to take due diligence confirming the customers’ financial discipline and resilience before extending the facility.
Once you have been approved to pay for a phone, over time you can finance a new phone and let someone else use it. You must have paid for at least one phone before being considered for this option.
Yes. Devices bought with device payments are covered by an MTN return policy and come with a 1-year manufacturer’s warranty
Savings & Loans
MoKash is a service available for MTN Mobile Money customers that provides customers the ability to save using MTN Mobile Money and to take loans on a short term basis.
Dial *165*5# and select MoKash to get started.
A customer can save and earn interest or can get a short term loan with MoKash.
- Upon activation of MoKash a customer should save by moving money from their Mobile Money account to their MoKash account.
- To save with MoKash dial *165*5# select MoKash, then Savings then Deposit. A customer can save as low as UGX50.
- Money saved on MoKash earns interest.

- To access a MoKash loan a customer should have first saved with MoKash. Customers can save as low as UGX 50.
- You can access a loan between UGX 3,000 and up to UGX 1,000,000 depending on your loan limit with a 9% facilitation fee.

- If loan in not paid within the 30 day period, customer will extend the outstanding loan for another 30 days at a fee of 9%

- The customer is assigned a loan limit immediately upon activation of MoKash.

- Regularly saving with MoKash as well as timely repayment of loans will positively impact a customers’ loan limit.

MTN Open API
The MTN Open API is an initiative in which MTN has exposed to the public API end points for accessing MTN Mobile Money services. To access the exposed API endpoints, users simply sign up on the online portal at https://momodeveloper.mtn.com/
The Open API will ease the process of integrating to MTN Mobile Money and also enhance value for innovators who want to use Mobile Money as a payment solution in their products and services. How is this achieved?
Exposing the API end points for Mobile Money to the public will make it easy for any innovator to consider monetizing their service with MTN Mobile Money
Users don’t have to visit MTN offices to initiate integration with Mobile Money. They can initiate and complete integration via the MTN Open API online portal
The Open API provides a sandbox environment for innovators to experiment concepts thus stimulating innovation
Once development of the service is completed and testing is done; integration to go live via the open API takes approximately 10 days as opposed to over 2 months previously experienced.
The exposed API endpoints have been packaged to enable the partner/developer to build any or all the following products.
- Collections – For receiving payments for Good and Services
- Disbursements – Enabling a partner to make payments/disbursements to a list of specified recipients.
- Remittances: This enables the customer/partner to transfer and receive money across borders.
- MOMO Widget: a user can download the widget and enable mobile Money payments off an E-commerce site

The MTN Open API portal and endpoints are open to both local and international innovators to use as long as they comply with the terms and conditions of using the API which include among others compliance to regulatory requirements and policies including but not limited to ‘Know Your Customer (KYC), AML Act among others.
The Open API enables you to develop and commercialize services that are consumable within a specific market/country. Currently the Open API is only available in Uganda. In the near future, we intend to extend the scope of the Open API to other MTN operations.
Yes. Services created to be accessed via Web, App and USSD channels can consume the Open API.

MoMocard
The MTN MoMocard is a virtual card available to MTN customers that enables them to perform online transactions with funds from their MTN MoMo wallet.

Getting the MTN MoMocard is very easy. Simply dial *165*70# and select option 1 to create an MTN MoMocard. You will be prompted to enter your MTN MoMo PIN and once you enter your PIN the MTN MoMocard number along with the CVV numbers will be sent to your phone via text.
Each MTN MoMocard you create will cost you UGX 1,000.
An MTN MoMocard has a maximum value of UGX 3,000,000 and is valid for 30 days.
MTN MoMocard is available to all MTN MoMo customers. Dial *165# to activate your MTN MoMo account.
With the MTN MoMocard you can pay for goods and services online. Some of these include online shopping, accommodation, airline travel, ebooks. Software and apps.
The MTN MoMocard can be used on any online service that accepts payment through Mastercard.
You can create only 1 card at a time. When that card expires or is depleted you can then create another.
Simply dial *165*70# and select option 2. You will be prompted to enter your MTN MoMo PIN and thereafter the MTN MoMocard details will be displayed.
You can cancel your MTN MoMocard. Simply dial *165*70# and select option 3 to cancel your card. You will be prompted to enter your MTN MoMo PIN to confirm this request.
No you can not withdraw cash using the MTN MoMocard. It can only be used to make online payments.

Yes. You can only make payments to Multiplex when registered on MTN Mobile Money.
Dial *165#, select ‘3’ for ‘Pay Bill’, then 3 again to select ‘Multiplex’ and proceed to enter your car registration number and amount due.
No. One does not need an account with Multiplex. All you need is a car registration number.
Your registration number is the number on your car number plate.
It doesn’t matter whether capital or small letters. All you have to ensure is entering the right registration number.
You can pay a minimum of UShs 1 000 to Multiplex.
No. You do not need to pay for a physical parking ticket. Once you conclude your payment through MTN Mobile Money, Multiplex will receive and acknowledge the payment in their system.
Currently you can only pay your outstanding or overdue Multiplex bill using MTN Mobile Money. You cannot pre-pay e.g. you cannot pay for monthly parking.
Yes. You can pay using another person’s number provided you enter your car registration number.
No. However, you will receive an SMS from MTN and Multiplex confirming payment.

MoMoPay
A customer is charged when they send Mobile Money while paying for goods and services using MoMoPay is free for the customer.
All merchant premises will have a 6 digit merchant code displayed prominently for the customer to see. To pay for services a customer dials *165*3# and then enters the merchant code, the amount to pay and the Mobile Money PIN. This transaction is free for the customer.
To view the Merchant Code, the merchant should dial *165*3# and select option 8 to View ID.
MoMoPay payments are received immediately. Both the customer and the merchant are immediately notified via SMS with confirmation of the transaction.
You can access these funds to pay your supplier through MoMoPay. You can pay salaries of your employees. You can also transfer these funds to your bank account.
To get the funds as physical cash, just visit a Mobile Money agent or an ATM.
MoMoPay is a secure service and the transactions are carried out using your MTN Mobile Money PIN. Remember to always keep your PIN safe.
If you receive a payment that is meant for a different merchant or the customer enters a wrong amount when paying you, then you have to dial *165*3#, select Reverse Transaction and follow the prompts. The merchant will need the Transaction ID to complete the reversal.
For every received payment the merchant will be charged 1% of the value of the payment for the Individual Merchant and 2% for the Business Merchant. Customers use MoMoPay for free.
To sell airtime a merchant should dial *165*3# and select Pay for Customer then follow the steps.
