MTN Uganda has concluded a three day Y’ello Storm activation in Arua, bringing together customers, community leaders, local businesses, media personalities, and young people in an experience centered around connection, engagement, and community
impact.

The activation, which ran from May 13 to May 15, formed part of MTN Uganda’s wider Free Your Fire campaign. Through the campaign, MTN is creating spaces where customers can engage directly with the brand, explore products and services, and discover opportunities that support their ambitions, businesses, and everyday lifestyles.

Over the three days, MTN teams engaged customers through activations across Arua town while also carrying out network expansion and modernization activities in areas including Abira Cell, Alivu, Ajupara, Aliko, and Riki. The newly launched and upgraded sites were built between the fourth quarter of 2025 and 2026 as part of MTN’s ongoing investment in improving the quality of voice calls, data connectivity, and overall customer experience in the West Nile region.

Speaking during the activation, MTN Uganda Regional Commercial Head for Northern Uganda, Phillip Odoi, appreciated customers across the region for their continued trust and support.

“The people of West Nile have consistently supported MTN Uganda over the years and this activation is our way of engaging more closely with the communities we serve while continuing to improve the experience on our network,” he said.

He added that MTN remains focused on strengthening connectivity and bringing services closer to customers across the region.

“We continue investing in our network infrastructure to improve coverage, voice quality, and data experience for our customers. As communities continue to grow and businesses expand, we want to ensure that our customers have reliable and affordable connectivity that supports their daily lives and ambitions,” Odoi said.

As part of the community outreach activities, MTN Uganda visited Arua Regional Referral Hospital where teams carried out a clean up exercise around the hospital premises and donated cleaning equipment and care packages to support the facility. MTN also extended support to mothers in the children’s ward through contributions facilitated via MTN MoMo.

Odoi said the hospital engagement reflected the company’s commitment to supporting communities beyond connectivity.

“We were honored to spend time at Arua Regional Referral Hospital because healthcare institutions play a critical role within the community. Through this visit, we wanted to show appreciation and contribute in a small way to the wellbeing of the patients, mothers, and healthcare workers serving the people of West Nile,” he said.

The final day of the activation featured a Y’ello drive through Arua town, a customer appreciation luncheon, a blood donation campaign hosted at OPM grounds, and community games that brought together boda boda riders, taxi drivers, media personalities, market vendors, former footballers, and MTN staff.

The luncheon brought together key stakeholders including local government leaders, city authorities, security representatives, business leaders, high value enterprise customers, merchants, school representatives, SIM selling outlets, and long serving MTN customers. The engagement created an opportunity for MTN to appreciate customer loyalty, recognize key partners, and receive feedback on how the company can continue supporting the ambitions and growth of the people and business community in Arua.

Customers engaged directly with MTN teams to learn more about products and services during the Y’ello Storm in Arua.

Throughout the activation, customers also engaged with various MTN products and services including voice and data bundles, MTN Caller Tunez, YoTV subscriptions, MyMTN App downloads, MTN MoMo services, bill payments, SIM registration, device offers, routers, MiFis, and smartphones through strategic partners.

The community celebrations concluded with football matches, cooking competitions, tug of war activities, spin and win experiences, and performances from local and national artists alongside local DJs and MCs.
