The following terms and conditions apply to the MTN WakaNet and MTN Business Internet services (‘the Services’) accessed through the 4G router. By requesting for and activating these services, you will be deemed to have read, understood, and accepted these terms and conditions:
The Services
These services are a fixed home or office internet solutions that use MTN’s 4G wireless network to deliver high-speed, reliable, and unlimited internet. The 4G router provides a seamless connection suitable for home entertainment, online education, home surveillance, and remote working needs all within the comfort of your home. It is also a convenient, quick and efficient way to connect a small or remote office with few users
These internet services are designed to be accessible exclusively within the customer’s fixed premises whether home or office, based on the location where the 4G router is registered and installed.
The services are intended for use in fixed locations typically a home or office, and do not allow for mobility. Nomadic movements or relocations will be offered to customers upon request
Eligibility
These services are available to all customers located in areas within MTN 4G coverage, as indicated during the request process on the MyMTN app and MTN website. Customers can request the service through an MTN Sales Agent or by visiting any of our MTN Service Centers.
Accessing and Using the Service
- In order to access MTN WakaNet or MTN Business Internet services accessed through the 4G Router, customers will be required to confirm 4G coverage at their premises before purchasing the 4G router to access either MTN Wakanet or Business Internet services. Coverage can be checked via the MyMTN app or the MTN website
- MTN no longer sells 4G routers. Customers interested in purchasing a router can now get the MTN 5G router, which is available at MTN Service Centers, Banana Partner Shops, and selected MTN agents across the country. Each 5G router comes with a designated MTN SIM card
- Upon expiry or depletion of the starter bundle (whichever comes first), the customer will have the option to renew with any MTN Wakanet or MTN Business Internet 4G router specific offers accessible through *100*23# (Wakanet), *177# (Business Internet), MyMTN App, MTN MoMo App or MTN website.
- A customer is also free to buy any standard data bundles (open market bundles) once their data has been used up.
- The 4G router specific bundles/offers are indicated in the table below. All other data bundle offers that can be purchased for use in the 4G router are available on *100*23# (Wakanet), *177# (Business Internet), as other bundles and on standard data bundle purchase channels and the customer will be required to use the “buy for another” option and enter their 4G router number as the recipient number

- 4G router specific offers will be available to all existing 4G Router customers that do not renew their current speed offers and new customers purchasing a 4G router
- Customers that continue renewing their current speed-based offers will be subject to a fair usage policy.
- These 4G router specific offers are limited to the numbers bundled with the 4G router currently in the 3945XXXXX range.
- The customers’ Balance/Status Check on *100*23# (Wakanet), *177# (Business Internet), and MyMTN App will display Volume/Expiry date.
- Payment for any of the 4G Router specific offers is done using MTN Mobile Money.
- MTN Uganda reserves the right to change the 4G router specific offers and business rules in the future as it seems fit.
- MTN will communicate these 4G Router specific offers at the points of sale, in the digital and online environment as well as out-of-home assets.
- The MTN WakaNet and Business Internet 4G Router specific offers are available for purchase by both prepaid and postpaid customers.
- Once a customer has activated their MTN WakaNet or MTN Business Internet services accessed through a 4G router in a certain location either home or office, they will only be able to use it in that location. If they would like to change the location, they would be required to request for a re-location
How to Request a Relocation for MTN WakaNet or MTN Business Internet
- If you are an existing MTN WakaNet or MTN Business Internet customer, accessing these services through a 4G router, and you are planning to relocate or change premises home or office, you should notify MTN at least two days in advance.
- You can notify us through the MyMTN App, by visiting www.mtn.com/wakanet, calling our helpline at 125, or sending an email to wakanet.ug@mtn.com.
- For example, in the MyMTN App, go to the 4G section and select the Relocation feature. Follow the prompts to enter your new location details and preferred relocation date to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted service transfer.
- The relocation request will be processed based on the customer’s submitted details, and they will receive a confirmation notification once the update is complete.
Consent
- MTN shall bear no responsibility for any harm and/or losses occasioned them from the use of the purchased MTN WakaNet or MTN Business Internet services accessed through the 4G Router.
- Information regarding the MTN WakaNet and MTN Business Internet services accessed through the 4G Router that is published on authorized advertising material will also form part of the terms and conditions of the campaign.
- MTN may in their sole discretion amend these terms and conditions at any time, or terminate the MTN WakaNet or MTN Business Internet services accessed through the 4G Router altogether, without notice.
- MTN’s decision is final in matters relating to the MTN WakaNet or MTN Business Internet services accessed through the 4G Router. No correspondence will be entered into once the bundles are legitimately purchased and provided.
- Any additional products or services not included in the offered value proposition but required by the customer for fulfilling a desired user experience, will need to be arranged and paid for separately.
- If for any reason any aspect of the MTN WakaNet or MTN Business Internet services accessed through the 4G Router are not capable of running as planned, including by reason of infection by computer virus, network failure, bugs tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any cause beyond the control of Synergy which corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the freedom voice bundles, MTN in its sole discretion may cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the WakaNet 4G Bundles, or invalidate any affected entries, subject to the approval of the local regulator.
- MTN will not be liable for any loss (including, without limitation, indirect, special or consequential loss or loss of profits), expense, damage, personal injury or death which is suffered or sustained (whether or not arising from any person’s negligence) in connection with the MTN WakaNet or MTN Business Internet services accessed through the 4G Router except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law (in which case that liability is limited to the minimum allowable by law).
Fair Usage Policy (FUP)
- Fair Usage Policy (FUP) is a policy designed to ensure that all customers receive consistent and reliable internet service. It prevents any single user from consuming excessive amount of bandwidth which could negatively impact the experience for others. This policy promotes fairness and stability, ensuring optimal speeds and connectivity for everyone during both peak and off-peak hours
- The MTN Wakanet and Business Internet offers that are speed cap based are for personal and residential use. This service is not for redistribution, resale, and/or extension to other premises. With the current offers we provide services up to the stated speeds for the different packages offered and fair usage policy thresholds/cap
- Once a customer uses up their Fair Usage Policy (FUP) threshold/cap for the specific package bought, their speed will be stepped down depending on which package has been bought for the reminder of the 30 days.
- MTN Uganda reserves the right to change the FUP rules in the future for the different packs as it seems fit.
