Business Continuity and Resilience Policy

At MTN Uganda, we recognize the critical role our services play in keeping people, businesses, and communities connected. We are committed to the continued availability and recovery of our critical operations, services, products and processes in the face of disruptions and unforeseen events, while complying with regulatory requirements.

The Business Continuity and Resilience (BC & R) Policy has been implemented by MTN Uganda to reduce the potential impact of disruptive incidents. The policy establishes the principles, responsibilities, and framework that guide our preparedness, response, and recovery efforts.

  • Minimize the impact of disruptions on customers and operations.
  • Ensure service continuity and timely recovery of essential services and infrastructure.
  • Comply with the relevant legal and regulatory requirements.

This policy covers all critical activities, processes, business units, telecommunication infrastructure, and channels of business transactions involved in delivering critical MTN Uganda services to our customers.

  • Leadership Commitment: The Executive team and Senior management actively support and reviews the Business Continuity Management System (BCMS).
  • Risk-Based Planning: We conduct regular risk assessments and business impact analyses to inform our continuity strategies.
  • Preparedness: We maintain up-to-date business continuity and disaster recovery plans, tested through simulations and drills.
  • Communication: Clear internal and external communication protocols are in place to keep all our stakeholder informed during disruptions.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lessons learned from incidents and exercises are used to enhance our resilience.

MTN Uganda’s Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) is aligned with the ISO 22301:2019 standard.

  • Documented policies, procedures, and controls that meet ISO 22301 requirements 
  • A structured plan that includes continuous improvement actions and evidence-based evaluations.
  • Integration of risk management and incident response structures into operational processes.

This alignment ensures that MTN Uganda remains resilient, responsive, and compliant with international best practices in business continuity.
