MTN Xtra Float is a short-term loan that allows registered agents to borrow instant e-money for operational needs in their Mobile money businesses via *165*5*1#.

  • Minimum loan amount of UGX 50,000 and a maximum of UGX 1,000,000
  • Loan is available at a small fee of only UGX 500.
  • Loan repayment period of 24 hours
  • Bridge financing

  • MTN MoMo agents who have been active on the platform for at least 3 months
  • Agents with sufficient transaction volumes
  • Agents with good credit and float management history
  • Agents who have opted in by accepting the Terms & Conditions
  • Agents flagged as eligible

Xtrafloat is available any day, any time to eligible agents.

  • Access Fee (Fixed, UGX 500): 
  • Penalty Fee (Daily, on overdue balances): 1% per day for 2 days.
  • No service or registration fees
  • No taxes applied

  • Select ‘Agent Loans’ 
  • Select ‘XtraFloat”
  • View and accept Terms & Conditions
  • Enter MoMo PIN to join the Xtrafloat
  • An SMS is sent to the agent upon successful registration.

  • Select ‘Get Xtrafloat’ 
  • Select category amount
  • Enter your MoMo PIN

Can I repay early? Can I repay early?

Yes. Early repayments can be made through the same USSD code *165*5*1#. Select 2 to “Repay Xtrafloat”. Partial and full repayments are supported.

No, an agent must fully repay an existing loan before applying for a new one.

  • Increase activity on your MTN Momo account by transacting more.
  • Early and prompt repayment of your loan.

  • Select ‘Xtrafloat
  • Select ‘Repay Xtrafloat’
  • Enter Amount
  • Enter MoMo PIN
What happens if I do not repay on time? What happens if I do not repay on time?
  • MTN Xtra Float has to be paid back in time to avoid a penalty of 1% of the principal amount after 24 hours and another 1% after 48 hours on the outstanding amount.
  • The system may automatically deduct funds from your wallet
  • Your loan limit may be reduced
  • You may not qualify for future loans
